Guide

Resolve and document a finding

Acknowledge, close, and preserve a finding without losing the evidence behind the decision.

Last reviewed September 12, 2026

Acknowledge and close an issue

Acknowledge an issue when an owner has reviewed it and work is still in progress. Close it only after the team has validated the disposition or remediation. These actions change workflow state; they do not delete the captured record. For an accepted header change, confirm that the new value should become the baseline.

Procedure

  1. 1.

Open the correct project and page

Use the project selector to choose the website you intend to review, then open Issues in the left navigation. Confirm the organization, project, and monitored domain before interpreting a record or changing a control.

  2. 2.

    Preserve the original signal

Record the finding link, current status and severity, affected entity, first and last observation, relevant session, and recent deployment context before changing disposition or detection settings.

  3. 3.

    Lifecycle semantics

Read the state together with its timestamps and owner action; a workflow state does not erase the original observation.

  4. 4.

    Required validation

Compare the signal with the affected entity, linked session, timing, and expected behavior before setting its disposition.

  5. 5.

    Reproduce and compare

Repeat a representative journey when safe, then compare the new session and source records with the original finding. Verify that the selected disposition describes the reviewed evidence.

  6. 6.

    Record the decision trail

Preserve the original finding, supporting records, expected behavior, owner, disposition, rationale, and follow-up. A workflow-state change must not replace the evidence used to reach it.

Preserve investigation context

Preserve an investigation with the project, monitored URL, provider and resource links, session or finding identifiers, first and last seen times, relevant screenshots or exports, policy state, reviewer, decision, and unresolved questions. Exclude secrets and unrelated visitor data from shared records.
