Visitor choices and saved preferences
Understand Accept All, Reject All, custom preferences, category inventory, and the optional page reload.
Last reviewed September 12, 2026
CookieWall gives visitors three consent paths: accept all optional categories, reject them, or save a custom selection. The preference is stored for later visits, while Global Privacy Control can keep Marketing disabled. Test each path and the preference-change flow on the deployed website.
Available choices
Use the following table to understand how each area supports the task.
| Choice | Saved result |
|---|---|
| Accept All | Analytics, Marketing, Functional, and Strictly Necessary are enabled, except Marketing remains disabled when GPC is active. |
| Reject All | Only Strictly Necessary remains enabled. |
| Customize | The visitor chooses Analytics, Marketing, and Functional independently; Strictly Necessary cannot be disabled. |
Category details in the banner
The expanded preferences view can list the identifiers published for each category, including their names, providers, and user-facing descriptions. This makes the quality of the Privacy Inventory directly visible to visitors.
What happens after a choice
CookieWall stores the category preferences in the visitor’s browser, updates configured consent platforms, emits a browser event, closes the dialog, and optionally reloads the page. With auto-reload enabled, a first visit reloads only when an optional category was accepted; returning visits reload when optional choices changed.
